Review restictions

COVID-19 is an imported disease that has penetrated PNG from our international borders.
Instead of monitoring the borders, the Government is coming down hard on the freedom and economic activities of the people.
This has affected the 75 per cent of people who survive on the informal sector.
Stopping markets and other informal trade where the bulk of the population depend on is unacceptable.
The stimulus budget will benefit companies, public servants and those who are employed.
There is nothing for the unemployed and subsistence farmers on this budget.
The so called smart budget by Mr Treasurer won’t put any single toea in to the pockets of this hand-to-mouth population.
They live by their own means and their survival is at risk.
I recommend for the Government to review these restrictions and allow and regulate normal business activities in line with safety measures.
We have no reported death or confirmed cases yet our self-defence measures are too hard on the little people.
It is frustrating millions in the informal business sector.

Lae
