A VILLAGE court in Central received court materials to help officers attend to law and order issues.
Chairman of the Babagarubu village court in Rigo coast local level government Kelly Gimana said they always had issues contacting police to arrest perpetrators.
Gimana said there was a need to improve village court systems, especially in locations and areas where they held court cases.
“The country has turned 46 years of independence and there should be an improvement on having village court houses,” he said.
“We conduct our court sittings under trees and sometimes when it rains, we face problems with our recordings and documents.”
Gimana said they had been facing issues with their village court allowances but this had been resolved.
“Babagarubu village has five magistrates who are yet to be on payroll but work has been done to resolve the issue,” he said.
The Babagarubu village court area consists of eight villages.
They are Babagarubu, Riwalirubu, Galomarubu, Verobina, Walai, Koneka, Gemo and Kaparoko.
Gimana said they had 11 male officers and one female who had been working over the years. Central provincial administrator Francis Koaba and president of Rigo coast local level government Chillion Golu presented tables, chairs, uniforms and boots to the court officials. Koaba said they would be presenting court materials to other village court areas in Rigo throughout the week.
