RENDLE Rimua, investigated by police over corruption and misappropriation allegations, has been appointed petroleum and energy secretary.
Rimua was reappointed for four years.
Sources in the department have described Rimua’s appointment as hypocritical in light of the government’s fight against corruption.
No comment could be obtained from Rimua or cabinet officials.
Rimua was arrested last week after he was implicated in a high-profile case involving a substantial amount of public funds.
Director of police fraud unit Timothy Gitua confirmed his arrest.
