Ripped off by UPNG Open College

Letters, Normal

THE UPNG Open College is not serving its purpose.
Instead, it seems to be making money to offset shortfalls suffered in the main campus.
Students studying courses offered by the school of business administration are charged K500 per course while social science and humanity studies cost K750 per course.
What is really disgusting and unfair is that students are not provided lecture or tutorial classes, marked assignments are not returned back to us with answer sheets for revision before we sit for the examinations.
This is in breach of its own policy in the study guide books where it is stated that all marked assignments are to be given back at least two weeks before the examinations.
Students of the Open College and those at the main campus sit for the same examinations which is very unfair as the latter are given every help while we are left to fend on our own.
The resource books and study guide books issued as study materials are outdated.
I call on UPNG Open College management to stop this practice as it is a major concern for us.
It must recruit qualified tutors and lecturers to guide us.
There must be sufficient resource and reference books offered online while the study material provided us must also be the same as those in the main campus.
It is essential students are able to access information online and this must be implemented immediately.
