THE Rita Fylnn Complex (RFC) is open for Coronavirus (Covid-19) testing and other services in the National Capital District (NCD), Dr Daoni Esorom says.
The deputy controller for the National Pandemic Response clarified that the complex was reopened on June 16, after a meeting with the NCD health authority team and the Sports Foundation.
“During the meeting, I (gave) directives for them to open the complex,” he said.
“The Pandemic Controller David Manning, had also directed the PNG Sports Foundation to open the RFC to ensure the Covid-19 services continued to be provided in a directive dated June 21.
“I have had several discussions with the Sports Foundation chief executive officer to see how best the NCC and other partners can support the Sports Foundations to rehabilitate the facility as part of our Covid-19 recovery roadmap.
“It’s now the responsibility of the NCD health authority to continue on the services there, including all the other Covid-19 services in other health facilities in the city.”
According to PNGs Covid-19 update this month, there were 30 new cases in the last seven days.
Enga had reported 27 new cases while Western Highlands, East New Britain and NCD all reported one case each.
There is a new cumulative total of 44,691 confirmed cases of the Covid-19, with 658 cumulative confirmed deaths and 30 new confirmed case reported from June 13 to 19.
More than 277,913 people are fully vaccinated, more than 337,243 people have been vaccinated with one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
