Road fines not fair

Letters

The new road law brings wasteful and baseless rules that only make Papua New Guinea look bad.
There are better ways to tackle these issues instead of imposing hefty fines. For example, for defective front and rear lights the penalty is K5000.
Talk about better things, for instance, the deployment of police officers and soldiers on our roads or better traffic lights and pedestrian crossings.
Give driving licence only to people who pass the driving test.
Talk about reducing import of used motor vehicles and even talk about public servants becoming businessmen and women.
Do proper research before imposing new laws and hefty fines on members of the public.
If the Government has to impose big fines then balance it out by reducing the tax on income to between 20 and 25 per cent.
We work hard then are taxed heavily yet we still don’t see the services we deserve.
