Road in Wewak needs maintenance

Letters

BASIC government services hardly reach many remote parts of the country which makes everyday life very difficult for the people.
Many people are dying from curable diseases while many children do not attend schools.
Many are carrying cash crops and walking long distances to get PMV to town markets is very painful.
Almost every time, our mandated leaders talk about providing basic services to the rural population.
It may be reaching some parts of the country but not so for the rural people of Numoiken, Urindohung and Hambraure in the Wewak Rural local level government of East Sepik.
This is a wakeup call of all our elected leader of Wewak Kevin Isifu to do something about this road from Simbrangu to Urindohung.
We have only heard of the K1 million for the road project from 2018 to 2020.
But we do not know whether our ward members of the three villages are telling us the truth after their visits to Isifu’s office.
The road from Simbrangu to Numoiken lack maintenance for years and is impassable during wet season.
That makes life difficult for people.
Urindohung village is about 2-3 kilometres from Numoiken village and is not connected by road since independence 1975. It is about time something is done about that.
The people have given you, Isifu, the mandate to represent all, and not the few that you favour in the electorate.
Didn’t we give you the mandate as well?
Please help us.
