Road needed to save lives

Letters

The national Government should seriously look into building a road to link Kandrian district to Kimbe town.
My dear mother is from an island in the Arowe group. I do not sleep well as my younger brother, our dear mother and our relatives are frequent sea travelers back home.
My heart was torn apart when I read in the papers that a boat had capsized near Kandrian.
While this tragic incident was reported, there had been many unreported sea tragedies along the same coastline.
I call on the government to link Kandrian to Kimbe by road as the Arowes are simple, ordinary citizens who for a long time have been deprived of basic services.
Although our local MP is in the Opposition, we are still your people and if we continue to be neglected, many more lives will be lost at sea.
On behalf of the Arowes, I convey our deepest condolences to the family members of the policeman from the Highlands and other government workers who perished in the boat tragedy.
We think of them as heroes because they sacrificed their lives to serve.
