Road paves way for other service

Letters

ROAD accessibility is vital for service delivery, economic growth and development.
A lot of our rural areas are a testament to this – many are still cut off from the rest of the country because they don’t have any roads, hence, they are left behind in terms of development and services.
Lack of proper roads is especially hard on farmers/growers who struggle to transport their produce.
In places where there are roads, they are in a bad state and it seems the Government and elected leaders have turned a blind eye to road maintenance. But in order for people to reach these worse-for-wear roads, they still have to tackle rugged terrain, cross raging rivers and walk even longer distances.
Due to Government negligence to these roads, our people are missing out on improved health, education, law and order service and business opportunities.
Roads that have been maintained by local contractors are starting to deteriorate because of a lack of maintenance due to funding and/or bad weather.
The Government needs to intervene and reach the unreachable.

  • During GE, vote the right leaders who will fix roads in both rural and town areas and bring other basic services to their electorate.

  • Roads will get people together and it is the base of development.
It is very expensive to build roads in PNG nowadays becuase so many private contractors who wants the money but not the road building.

The Government must give the all roads building to the Department of Works
    It will be cheaper.
