Road to link borders

PEOPLE living in the western part of the Western Highlands, bordering Ialibu and Imbonggu, Southern Highlands, will soon be connected to the main road.
Tambul-Nebilyer MP Win Daki said he aimed to build roads and bridges to connect his electorate to other parts of Western Highlands and neighbouring Southern Highlands by 2022.
Daki told The National his people in the Gia area did not have access to basic services because there were no roads.
“They are separated by the Kagul river and the only footbridge there was built during Independence,” he said.
“But the road link is nearing its completion.”
Daki said the road link would benefit seven council wards and the Tambul-Nebilyer development authority (DDA) had spent K400,000 but still needed another K500,000 to be completed.
“Road work has been completed and the footbridge will be replaced once we find one.”
Daki said 16.4km of road from Mt Kuta in Mt Hagen to Kunia, in the lower Nebilyer area would soon be opened connecting three big villages to the provincial capital.
