THERE is no proper coordination for the road infrastructure rehabilitation work being carried out on the Lae city roads, the city engineering boss has alleged.
Acting director of city engineering and technical services Murewe Zurenuoc has stood by his call, made earlier this week, that proper consultation must be held with all stakeholders before the start of any road work in the city.
Zurenuoc, who is also the acting city manager, said in a paid advertisement in newspapers this week, that proper consultation must be made with the city authority prior to any road work so that proper coordination like control of traffic and pedestrians, were planned.
“As it is at the moment, there is congestion of people and vehicles everywhere, especially within the main business district in town, where major road works are being carried out,” he said.
He pointed out that the part of Huon Road, from 5th Street to the junction with Markham Road, was still closed to the public for cementing, forcing all vehicles onto Coronation Drive, which was also undergoing a major upgrading.
