MADANG police are concerned about the increase in robbery incidents, the latest in Sek when armed men assaulted a store owner and took cash, phones and alcohol.
Madang police commander acting Supt Mazuc Rubiang said more than K10,000 in cash was taken by 10 armed men.
“Two (police mobile teams) gave chase with the assistance of the villagers but the men escaped,” he said. “Robbery is happening daily in the province and I am not happy with that.
“Why are people attacking people providing services and employment to the locals in the area where the stores are built?
“Robberies are happening along the highways – both the North and South Coast roads.”
