TEAM Robin Hood claimed the Lae Metro Dart Association title after defeating minor premiers and defending champions Unitech Snipers 5-2 on Sunday.
The 2020 Lahi Darts Association champions, who decided to join Lae Metro Dart this year, did not disappoint their fans as they made it into the grand final of the 16-team competition.
Jubilant captain Gabriel Sala told The National after the win that his players had worked hard at training and followed the game plan.
“I’m happy with the win and credit goes to the players as it was through teamwork that saw us beat the more experienced opponents from Snipers,” he said.
“We will come back stronger next year as we have done this year.
“We thank the Snipers for putting on a good challenge against us.”
Snipers mentor Nigel Kiaka said they played to their full potential against Robin Hood, but their top player had sustained an injury and did not play in the grand final.
“If the player was present, we could have given our opponents a tougher contest,” he said.
“Our loss is not about them being the better players and us being old-class competitors.
“If they had beaten our full-strength side, it is fair enough.
“Otherwise, their win came at the right time.”
