Rogue police officer

Letters

I EXPRESS my disappointment over a rogue police officer (named) for his inhuman brutality over a 16-year-old grade 10 student in Kundiawa on June 6.
The student sustained a swollen face and broken jaw.
It was after grade 10 written expression examination when students went back home with their parents and guardians doing shopping and then perhaps heading home.
While in the shop there was a commotion between the security guard and some students over noisy laughter that students were creating.
The named policeman who was in uniform rushed in and without asking what was going on or should have brought both parties to the police station for questioning to iron out the issue, instead he was very aggressive in his approach and started punching these students.
He held the 16-year-old by the collar of his shirt and punched him eight times so hard on the face which was resulted in a broken jaw sustained by the student and bulging facial.
The student did not eat for almost a week now.
The named rogue officer had never made an arrest or did an interrogation in the station over the issue but instead enjoyed manhandled the kid and sent him to the hospital.
I appeal to the new Police Minister Bryan Kramer to take this incident seriously and remove this rough officer from the force for disrespecting the uniform that he wears and the entire police force.
We the parents and citizen of this country have confidence and trust in your new leadership role because I believe that was one of the key areas highlighted in your swearing in ceremony speech and that is to end the police brutality.
