PNG Pepes coach Unaisi Rokoura is back in the country to select and mentor future representative netball players.
The Fijian flew into the country over the weekend to help scout talent for the upcoming international challenges against visiting Singapore later this month (July 21-24) and the regional World Cup qualifying tournament in New Zealand in September.
She told The National that she was feeling great to get back to work and wanted to see her junior PNG Pepes (Under-20) become competitive against Singapore and other nations during the qualifiers later in the year.
Rokoura said she would be part of the team that would conduct a training and mentoring programme for the selected U20 side in preparation for the two international meets. She said the three days of the National Gaming Control Board-sponsored junior netball championships was important for the development programme.
The national junior selectors will be hard at work to finalise a strong 20-man training squad for the Singapore friendly and the World Cup qualifying events.
Unaisa coached the Papua New Guinea Pepes to a silver medal after giving champions Fiji a run for their money during the Pacific Games in Port Moresby last July.
