THE government and churches in districts need to value the significance of Scouts and Girl Guides programmes and work to minimising social illness in communities, Bulolo district administrator Tae Gwambelek says.
Gwambelek said the two organisations played pivotal roles to shape the mindsets of young men, women and children with positive characteristics socially, spiritually, mentally and physically.
“The Morobe government, churches and respective districts need to embrace the meaningful roles and responsibilities Scouts and Guides play to be prepared, courageous in any situation, enemies to none, respect to mankind and environment and fear the Lord,” Gwambelek said.
He said their activities would keep young productive minds away from homebrew and drugs.
Gwambelek is also the Bulolo district scouts commissioner that actively involves and supports the movement.
“I appeal to provincial government, districts and churches to embrace Scouts and Guides programmes into community development programmes and enable them with resources to execute the noble principles in the way of thinking and behaving to promote peaceful communities” he said.
Gwambelek’s call came during the 31st Buang National Youth Easter Bible Camp at Bulandem, Buang.
Bulolo has three active troops in Watut, Bulolo Urban and Buang and the district development authority supports them.
