Roo setting good examples for leaders

Letters

CHIEF fire officer Bill Roo of PNG Fire Service is someone who never looks back.
The setbacks and challenges he endured have immensely shaped him to be more matured in his personal and professional life.
He is a career firefighter, climbing the rank and file to be where he is now.
Roo is someone with demonstrated abilities of self-awareness and is very decisive.
Given the trial of financial snags, he sets his priorities straight and astoundingly produces outstanding results.
He effectively facilitates the collaboration of multi-stakeholder platforms to build organisation capacity and capabilities to deliver the organisational roles.
When it comes to prudent fiscal management, Roo sets the record straight which sees substantial transformation throughout the fire stations in the country.
One of his injections in the institutional capacity building of fire service that should not go unnoticed is the revenue generation platforms built into the organisational decree.
He became an effective problem solver, he was confronted by the financial constraints that made him identify the policy issue and opportunities for proactive approach with relevant government stakeholders to have the legal mandate from Finance to charge and collect fees for its special services.
PNG needs such leaders who are innovative problem solvers to enhance development of resilient and sustainable organisations in order to be drivers of the Government’s visions and plans.
