The SSG Roosters and Bang 36 are strong title contenders in the Moresby South Rugby League winning their matches in the JT Cup 9s yesterday.
Down 4-0 at the interval at the Sir Bill Skate Oval, the Roosters came back strongly to deny Pari 10- 4.
With the scores locked at 4-4 and with two minutes remaining, Roosters’ Junior Yambe came close to sealing the victory with a try but he was denied by the opposition.
It was a case of second time lucky when Yambe sliced through two defenders in the same set of six to score near the uprights, edging the Roosters ahead 8-4. Amon Leslie made sure of the conversion, extending the lead to 10-4.
The Roosters held on to win despite a strong fightback by Pari.
Bang 36 edged NBC Watch Dogs 12- 10 to advance through to the semi finals and keep their title ambitions alive.
