TWO people were murdered after an argument over a blanket turned nasty in Madang province last week.
Provincial police commander Chief Insp Anthony Wagambie Jr told reporters in Madang the double murder occurred near the Good Shepherd High School between two relatives.
“The men had an argument over a blanket and the suspect killed his uncle and the relatives of the deceased retaliated and also killed the suspect.
“Police rushed to the scene upon receiving a call but they were late to save the man who was severely beaten and slashed on his head and body,” Chief Insp Wagambie said.
The injured was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Chief Insp Wagambie said police had detained several suspects in connection with the second killing.
In another incident, a Chinese catering operator engaged with the Ramu Nickel mine lost more than K260,000 after the Kuima Security vehicle carrying the money was held up by three armed robbers.
Chief Insp Wagambie said the robbers held up the driver and drove off in the security vehicle which ran off Redscar Road.
The robbers then fled on foot towards Binian Marine after taking the money.
