THE appointment of retired general Jeffrey Dademo as acting provincial administrator for Oro was a decision by the Provincial Executive Council (PEC) endorsed by the Public Service Commission and not by an individual member of parliament, or leader., an official says.

That was clarified by Tufi LLG president and chairman for commerce, culture and tourism Jaff Taua last Sunday.

In a letter circulated on social media, Community Development Minister and Sohe MP Delilah Gore wrote to the NEC asking for the replacement of Dademo.

She has nominated her own candidate who she requested the NEC to endorse to head the Oro provincial administration.

Taua stressed that Dademo’s appointment was not an individual decision but a decision endorsed by the PEC.

He said a local MP has no power or jurisdiction to oppose that.

“It was not a decision by the governor or any one member of the PEC but a resolution by PEC members as a means reform the province and deliver basic service to the people.

“Gore has never turned up for any of the PEC or assembly meetings and should not use her power as cabinet minister to influence the running of the provincial administration,” Taua said.

He said Gore should worry about the Sohe district, rather than poke her nose into something she has no direct control.

“In fact, she (Gore) disqualified herself from the provincial assembly after failing to turn up for three consecutive meetings.
