Royals reign at NGIP Agmark 9s

 ROYAL Saints are setting the pace at the NGIP Agmark 9s rugby league challenge held at the Kalabond oval in Kokopo on Saturday.

The Royals ran over a hapless M&C Seeto Reds 26-0 in week four of games to stay at the top of the competition.

Led by current Gurias halfback Rolly Matalau and winger Ase Boas, the team made up of boys from the Baliora Barracks was in ominous form.

Saints further marched into Warriors’ territory beating one of the better teams 12-8 in a strong contest.

This sees Royals taking the lead on 16 points followed by last year’s premiers Wanderers on 13.

Following the top three is Brothers (13),  Hunters (12), Warriors (11), Tigers (9), Eels (9), Hammerheads (8) and Warangoi Razorbacks (8).

Meanwhile this challenge as been one of the competition that will also identify local talents to be drafted into the Gurias side for the 2011 Intercity challenge.
