RPNGC needs to revitalise image

Letters, Normal

THE Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary is falling apart because the intellectual capabilities of the force is lacking.
Many of the members have passed retirement age but are not retrenched and still on the payroll, costing the state millions of kina.
They are also the ones who are giving the RPNGC a bad image because they lack discipline.
We hear, read and see them discharging firearms in public places, violating human rights and acting like ‘Rambos’.
It is ridiculous to see our policemen drinking and chewing buai while in uniform.
The government must allocate money to retrench the old members who waste our limited resources.
With the multi-billion LNG project coming on stream, we need a well equipped and highly sophisticated force to deal with the current law and order situation and different criminal activities.
