Rubbish in drains

I WRITE in support of an Eyewitness photograph (The National, Aug 14) which showed a drain full of plastic rubbish in Boroko, Port Moresby. Our country has produced so many intellectuals who should be able to think of solutions. We keep on telling people not to litter in public places but they keep doing it.
Drains, especially, are usually targeted by people wanting a quick way of getting rid of rubbish.
To help deal with this problem, we need our drains to be covered with a wire mesh to stop rubbish getting into them.
