Rugby 7s Governor’s Cup competition to start

 THE Rugby Sevens Governor’s Cup organised by Capital Rugby Union (CRU) will take place next weekend, says competition manager Paul Joseph.

Joseph said so far 30 teams have expressed interest to take part including the 12 CRU clubs that registered to take part in the 2016 season.

He said teams from outside centers like the Nopeti Engineering MadGauns of Madang, the Kedewas of Alotau and Kiunga Rugby Union have also shown interest to be part in this event.

Baike Brothers, Warumana, KeakaloMalagana and the Aroma Coast 7s will bring the best of Magi Highway into the fray. Other teams include Bomana Wild Ducks, Gordons Geckos, Team Kaugere, POM Reds, Wyld Dogs and Team Northeast to clash with the big guns in University Piggies, Harlequins, Nova, Defence and new comers Crusaders and Valley Hunters.

Joseph said only eight teams have confirmed for the women’s competition.

The Registration fee is set at K1500 and the deadline close of business on Monday, Feb 15. 

A compulsory meeting for all team managers will be held at 7pm on Monday at the PNGRFU Rugby House, Bava Park.
