Rugby bringing peace

Letters

AIYA local level government in Kagua-Erave, Southern Highlands, is known for ongoing tribal fight and warfare for decades.
Thanks to the frontlines for initiating the Aiya rugby league with its peace motto “Lusim gun, holim bal” (leave the gun, hold a ball).
Youths from warring tribes are taking part in this competition called Hondina peace cup at once a blood shed village Usa.
Now atmosphere within the valley is different and normalcy is taking shape.
I call on authorities at the provincial and district level to spare time and visit Usa village on a Saturday during a game to further find lasting solutions which has not been reached due to ignorance or other factors.
Make the league the bridge to walk over and retain lasting normalcy.

Maluwe Yamo,
Usa Valley
