Rugby league commentaries

Letters

Thank you Digicel PNG for broadcasting live the PM’s 13 match on Sunday. Thank you, too, for broadcasting other rugby league games over the years.
But please engage professional and confident people who know rugby league and who have a good grasp of the English language to do the commentary, offer expert analysis and do interviews.
The commentator’s shallow understanding of the game and low command of English did a disservice to the players and fans at the PM’s 13 match on Sunday in Port Moresby. Digicel TV please learn from the Australian TV stations and get capable people to do the rugby league commentaries on your channel. Engage former high-profile Kumuls players and coaches who have good understanding of the game and good command of the English language to provide the main and sideline commentaries.
Examples of former Kumuls with a good command of English are David Westley, John Wilshere, Eddie Aila, Mark Mom, Stanley Tepend, Glen Nami and Nigel Hukula. Even former coaches like Adrian Lam and Bob Bennett can be used for commentaries and expert feedback during international matches like we had on Sunday.
And why don’t you bring back that excellent local league caller Terry Longbut to lead the main call of the matches? Longbut is by far the best local rugby league caller after the death of the legendary Mark Sapias.
I hope some changes are made for a good commentary of the two Kumuls matches against the England Knights and the Emerging Kumuls’ match against the Australian Under-23s.
Digicel, we pay to watch the matches unlike the free to air days of EMTV, so we hope the commentaries are worth the money.
