LAE schools rugby league programme organised a clean-up activity at Lae Top Town on Friday.
The clean-up activity involved Lae Secondary, Busu Secondary, Bugandi Secondary, Bumayong Secondary, Lae International and Malahang Technical schools.
Schools’ rugby league coordinator Dennis Miall said the aim of the combined clean-up campaign was to encourage a positive relationship among schools involved in the programme.
“Furthermore, in the past years, our city schools have received negative impressions from social and print media,” he said.
“Through this combined clean-up, we anticipate giving a more-positive impression about our schools and thus keep our city clean.
“This volunteer activity will help shape our young citizens to become responsible members of our community.
“Through our committee, Lae MP John Rosso has given his support to this activity.”
Miall said the clean-up activity was a lead-up event to the launching of the Lae city schools’ rugby league competition and the Snax Tigers’ rugby league academy on Saturday.
“Both of these programmes are coordinated and administered through Lae schools’ rugby league programme, in partnership with Lae Secondary School, and is proudly sponsored by the Lae Biscuit Company through the Lae Snax Tigers Digicel Cup team.”
