Rugby sevens for Pacific Games moved

Sports

THE Pacific Games Office, World Rugby and Samoa Rugby Union announced that the rugby sevens matches for the Pacific Games have been relocated to Marist St Josephs Sports Stadium in Lotopa, Samoa.
The wet conditions and high surface traffic at Apia Park have contributed to the decision to move the venue to the stadium located on the western side of Apia, the Samoan capital.
The decision to relocate the games was made with the international federation technical delegate from World Rugby, and the Samoa Rugby Union in the interests of player welfare and safety.
Apia Park has been used the past week for the opening ceremony and rugby league nines event.
The park is scheduled to host athletics in week two of the Games.
Due to the change of venue, the competition schedule has been revised to start at 8am (Samoa time) on both competition days.
A decision to further truncate the schedule if weather conditions continues, will be made today.
