JUGGERNAUTS have one ‘life’ remaining in the Port Moresby Rugby Football Unions (POMRFU) first elimination finals tomorrow. And even harder against the hard-hearted Motuan Warriors.
Memories of last season’s grand final loss to the University Piggies, and the 11 month wait to finally bring the silverware to Five Mile is a motivation enough already. The only obstacle this time around is a bunch of ‘no-names’ who live by the sea, a thousand miles away from their sponsor who brews the infamous Casella wine in Australia but hails from Italy. The ‘juggers’ as they are passionately known are a bunch of no-names themselves that came through to the final last season, and will rely heavily on the experience of their Pukpuk centre-field combination of Wesley Rooney and Frank Gabi Junior, and their young running pack.Warriors on the other hand will run on with dried wounds from the final season round against a revamped University Piggies pack last week.Fly-half and captain Sarivita Kairi will call upon a little more commitment from outside backs, Manu Susuve and Lawrence Posu, who probably hold the keys to this elimination final. The Piggies meanwhile will tough it out against Defence in the preliminary final. With winners getting straight into the grand final, both sides are gunning to get this games out. of the way for assurance and the weeks rest before the big day. With the winners will head straight into the grand finals.
, both sides are gunning to get this game out of the way for assurance and the weeks rest before the big day.The first week of finals for the POMRFU will commence at 9am with the Under 20 matches, to the A’ Reserves, and then the final elimination of the premiers.Confirmation is yet to be received from the Capital Rugby Union (CRU) meanwhile, with regards to the proposed Top Four Conference Challenge at the end of both competitions seasons.
