Rules of arrest

Letters

THERE are a few grey areas when it comes to the arrests of high-profile people like parliamentarians and departmental heads on allegation of fraud.
Our criminal laws make any allegation as mere allegation until it is proven or discharged by a competent court of law.
This raises the question as to whether the alleged should continue to hold office and victimise whistleblowers, and of course tamper with evidence and witnesses or be sidelined immediately. Otherwise the high-profile arrests will be in vain if other systems and processes are seen as compromising factors. Public needs clarifica tion from learned persons on same.
