A JUDGE has told a man who admitted killing another that the court will make a ruling on the guilty plea today.
Lae National Court judge Justice Sao Gabi told Chris Maragau, 34, from Kiaruvu village, Yangoru, East Sepik, that he would have to consider when to accept the guilty plea.
Maragau admitted killing George Naemon in 2010.
“You pleaded guilty but I have not accepted it yet,” Gabi said.
“I will adjourn the matter to tomorrow (today) and tell you whether I accept your plea.”
The prosecution submitted in court that on Feb  27, 2010, Maragau armed with a knife approached Naemon, who was sitting inside his vehicle and stabbed him a number of times on his neck. The incident happened near Wima Trading, in Tent City.
Naemon was then the chairman of the Morobe provincial land and physical planning board. He had been reportedly drinking with some friends.
Both men hailed from Yangoru, in East Sepik.
Maragau is the younger brother of Jacob Maragau and uncle of Tovo Isido Maragau, two other co-accused in the case.
All three were charged with murder.
Jacob and Tovo  had denied the charges.
Gabi told the court that he would hear Chris’ case and let another judge hear the matter involving Jacob and Tovo.
