THE Galaxy S9 launch last week in Port Moresby is an indication of how global technology company Samsung has increased its ranking of the PNG market.
Samsung New Zealand key account manager Brad Pritchard said PNG was recently upgraded to a first tier market and the launch was done at the same time as the rest of the world.
“Samsung New Zealand supports the Pacific Islands and we look after Fiji, Samoa, Tonga, Vanuatu and PNG, which is one of our key markets,” Pritchard said. “We are very excited to launch the phone here in PNG at the same time as the rest of the world.
“So now, we class PNG as a Tier 1 country which is how the market has access to the phone at the same as the rest of the world”.
The launch event was engaging for invited guests with several booths set up to have an interactive explanation of several of the phones features.
Features for the Galaxy S9 include super slow motion video, low light camera, AR Emoji and Bixby intelligence platform.
As a fun way to get guests more informed about the Galaxy S9, a competition was held where guests had to enquire at all booths to go into a draw to win 2 return tickets to Sydney.
National Information Communication and Technology Authority employee Alphonse Henry was the winner.
Henry said he was excited about the win and was thankful to Samsung for the chance.
