Sabama women to receive assistance
The National, Wednesday February 3rd, 2016
OVER 100 women from Sabama and Kila Kila areas in the National Capital District will benefit from funds allocated for women in small informal businesses, area coordinator Simeon Apa says.
The women from Dodo Heights, Kogeva No.2, Deki Corner and Dark Street gathered at the Kila Kila Secondary School basketball court for the first stage of the funding process over the weekend.
Apa who is coordinator of Dodo Heights and Kogeva No.2 under the office of the member for Moresby South told The National that this was the first stage of the funding process, where women were required to pay a K10 registration fee which would assist them to register their group with the Investment Promotion Authority (IPA). “Those who register, will go into the second stage of receiving their funds,” Apa said.
She said the initiative by Moresby South electorate MP and Minister for Sports, Tourism, Arts and Culture Justin Tkatchenko would see women in the communities receive funds to assist them in small informal businesses.
Apa said that other women in the Moresby South electorate have already received their funds from this initiative and were now running small informal businesses.
Julie Alfred, who lives at Dodo Heights said she was happy with the Member for providing assistance and appreciated the initiative.
