 AUSTRALIAN Prime Minister Julia Gillard was feted like royalty when she visited Gerehu market in Port Moresby last Friday.

Hundreds of people lined up outside the market to grab a glimpse of Gillard.

She was given gifts of local food and bilums inside.

NCD Governor Powes Parkop explained how the market worked, assisted by Moresby Northwest MP and Health Minister Michael Malabag,

One woman gave Gillard a bilum, adorned with the PNG flag.

Gillard bought some bananas and sago before heading to parliament to meet her PNG counterpart Peter O’Neill.
