Salute to past governments

Letters

I SALUTE the great leadership and directions given to the development of this country to be an independent nation with God’s blessings.
I was a small boy when I witnessed the Australian flag brought to half-mast and the PNG flag went up.
All of a sudden people were in tears everywhere, I didn’t understand why at that time.
PNG gained independence.
As leaders, you have contributed well during your terms.
The current government’s development outlook seen throughout PNG is underpinned by the achievements of past governments’ development packages channelled down to the province, district and local level governments.
The public servants played a huge role in executing government policies on the ground.
Although, we have a thousand tribes, languages and culture, our Good Lord destined this country to be one people, one nation and one country, an indication of how powerful and supreme Papua New Guinea’s Holy God is – the God of Israel.
We need to practise good attitude to participate meaningfully in the government’s development.
Without improvement in individuals’ attitudes, it will obstruct development.
The government should empower private organisations, NGOs, schools and community groups to address attitude problems.
