Sam Akoitai, where are you?

Letters

ALLOW me to express my views on behalf of the silent population for Central Bougainville.
We are looking for our member Sam Akoitai. Has anyone seen him? If he is overseas attending medical treatment, let us know so that we can pray for him.
Our people, particularly in Wakunai, Central Bougainville, are suffering in silence.
We, the Wakunai people, have always been at the bottom in relation to the literacy rate in Bougainville.
The infant and maternal mortality rates in Wakunai, Aita and the surrounding areas of Central Bougainville are the highest in Bougainville and has always being the highest since Papua New Guinea became independent.
Comparing us with other parts of Bougainville, we the Wakunai people have many law and order problems. We plant marijuana and hold up cars at roadblocks.
We are the least educated in Bougainville.
Sam Akoitai comes from Wakunai.
On top of that, we have our authorities here in Bougainville, the Autonomous Bougainville Government (ABG).
They have been struggling with limited funds to help us.
We want Sam Akoitai to work with the ABG and President John Momis and perhaps attend ABG parliamentary sittings like national member for South Bougainville Timothy Masiu does.
We want Akoitai to help the ABG prepare Bougainville for referendum, but he is not there. We want him to raise Bougainville issues about Bougainville in Parliament.
Please Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, tell Akoitai to come home and help us.
We, the Wakunai people, the Pangunas, the Kieta, Arawa, Kongara people and all others from Central Bougainville are missing him very much.

J. Mirinha,
AROB
