Sandaun submits K168mil provincial budget to Treasurer
THE Sandaun government has submitted its 2019 provincial budget of K168 million to Treasurer Charles Abel.
It also submitted the budgets for the 18 local level government councils in the province.
Governor Tony Wouwou said despite the huge needs of the province, the provincial internal revenue was not enough to cater for its development priorities.
But Wouwou said with good interventions, the province was starting to realise a gradual increase in revenue as they start to look at revenue streams to assist the province in its development plans.
Abel thanked the provincial government for submitting the provincial budget on time and said the budget would go through the screening process and the outcome should be given within a week. He said it was the process to make sure things were done correctly.
Abel also called on other provincial governments to submit their budgets quickly so that their accounts can be opened.
