MOROBE Governor Ginson Saonu says he has submitted a name to the Department of Personnel Management for an acting administrator until Cabinet confirms a permanent appointee.
“We have submitted the name of an acting administrator to the Department of Personnel Management pending the appointment of a permanent administrator, which is before the National Executive Council,” Saonu said.
He said Public Service Minister Elias Kapavore had written to him to call an urgent provincial executive council meeting to discuss and resubmit their recommended list of candidates.
But a source said no urgent meeting was called.
The source said Saonu, in a Sam Sewe (provincial assembly) last month had agreed with the council members to endorse Sheila Harou who had scored 116 out of 130 points, based on the ratings given by the department.
The three shortlisted were Harou, Bart Ipambonj and John Iso.
Saonu said he as the Governor “used my prerogative to submit the name of the acting administrator, the confirmation of which is expected by the end of this week”.
Harou’s term as acting provincial administrator ended on May 18.
The last permanent administrator for Morobe was Patilias Gamato, now the Electoral Commissioner.
