Sapau, Pomat lead in Manus

MANUS Governor Michael Sapau and sitting MP Job Pomat are leading their respective fields after the 12th box yesterday.
Sapau is leading the regional race with 2,725 votes while Pomat has maintained his lead in the open race with 2,511 votes.
At the conclusion of the count, 352 votes were declared informal.
Behind Sapau in second place is Charlie Benjamin on 2,626 and Wep Kanawi 1,477.
For Manus open, 12,823 votes were counted with 432 declared informal.
Running behind Pomat is Leslie Roai with 2,044 and Ronnie Knight 1,889.
Reports from Manus last night said candidates and supporters were well behaved and counting was progressing smoothly.
Officials also said security around the counting venue at Sahat Hall had been tightened.
