THE maker of Saveloy sausages Prima Small Goods will open a new fully-integrated factory and storage facility at the Malahang industrial zone in Lae in September.

General manager Adrian Chow said yesterday they hoped to move in at the end of next month for the plant and facilities’ September opening.

The Morobe building board gave the thumbs up yesterday following a site inspection done by building, fire, electrical and sanitation officials.

Senior building Inspector Jacob Kumsoro said the factory, warehouse, administration and ablution structures were built to very high standards and he was impressed.

Morobe fire and hazards safety inspector Alphonse Amia also shared Kumsoro’s sentiments.

“They have conformed with all our fire safety standards,” Amia said.

 after the inspection.

Electrical and sanitation officers have also given positive ratings for the facility, generally describing it as very comprehensive.

The new facility has been considered a positive facelift for the relatively new Malahang industrial zone that would expand the scope of Lae’s new manufacturing, packaging and distribution hub.

Last week, the area witnessed the opening of a K78 million tuna processing plant nearby and the groundbreaking for another similar multimillion kina cannery on an adjacent block.
