NEW Zealand High Commissioner Marion Crawshaw has urged Papua New Guinean scholars to develop as a person during their studies overseas.
Crawshaw told a gathering of more than 200 winners of New Zealand scholarships, Australian development scholarships and Australian leadership awards scholarship, spouses and guests at the pre-departure briefing in Port Moresby yesterday to consciously grow as a person.
She told those undertaking programmes in New Zealand, to take the opportunity to travel the country to experience and do different things.
She told them to look and experience the ways of these countries.
The scholarship winners were advised to enjoy themselves and do better.
AusAid head, Stuart Schaefer said: “Please make full use of the rare opportunity presented to you. Soak up the knowledge and skills on offer and expand your social network and profession.”
He said they could come back to the country and contribute to the ongoing social and economic development.
Awardees are undertaking a three-day 2012 joint pre-departure briefing.
The briefing is the primary vehicle for preparing scholarship recipients for their move to Australia and New Zealand to ensure a successful completion of their scholarship awards.
It involves workshops, briefings, panel discussions, coaching sessions covering visas, scholarship conditions, academic requirements, social, culture, financial, reintegration and career planning strategies.
