THE head teacher of a school in Jiwaka may have to postpone the start of classes next week because of the poor state of the classrooms.

Rehab James is the head teacher of the Madan Christian Integrated School in the Anglimp local level government.

Two of the thatched classrooms are so old that it is unsafe for children to use, she said.

She has been requesting the provincial government and education officials for assistance but no one has responded.

James is appealing to Anglimp MP Joe Koim and Governor William Tongamp or any business house to help the school.

James said the two kunai-thatched buildings could no longer withstand the elements and must be replaced.

“Rain has started to leak from the roof,” she said.
