School board calls for help

BOROMIL Primary School in Kumai Bomai local level government in Gumine, Chimbu, is in dire need of infrastructure development.
Board chairman Samson Kawale said the level five school, which started in 1968, would celebrate its 50th anniversary on Independence Day with the theme “Thinking back: My good old days of being in the classroom”.
To coincide with the celebration, they will be using this opportunity to raise funds towards a four-in-one duplex that will house a library, computer laboratory, home economics room and office for teachers.
Kawale said the school received very little in tuition fee free (TFF) funding (K7,000) each quarter and that was not enough to cater for the infrastructure development.
“The estimated cost of the building is K250,000 and the school has, in its account now, K50,000,” he said.
“But we still need the balance that will go towards the full amount to enable the construction of the duplex.”
They need to build another two staff houses at the cost of K70,000 each to cater for the increasing number of students and the 14 teaching staff.
Kawale said the school would be upgraded to level six next year and the administration was looking at possibilities of increasing project fees for the students to help with costs.
He said anyone wishing to make a cash donation could deposit the money into the school’s account number 1000895686, BSP branch Kundiawa with the account name Boromil Primary School.
