School builds chapel in honour of priests

A SECONDARY school in Enga will soon have a new chapel built at a cost of more than K1 million.
Catholic-run Kopen Secondary School, in Wabag, will benefit from the chapel now under construction at a historical site, in honour of the first Catholic missionaries who set foot there in 1947.
The initiative was by school principal Dominic Lawton and Sari Catholic parish priest Fr Justin Ain.
Businessman and ward councillor Paul Kurai also pledged his commitment to support the project.
The ground breaking was held last year by Cardinal Sir John Ribat with Wabag diocese Bishop Arnold Orowae.
The construction began in June this year.
Lawton said the chapel would be part of the school’s infrastructure and would be used by students for mass.
He said the school gave K100,000 as part of its contribution to the chapel’s construction.
