The National Letters

IT is heart breaking to hear mothers and their kids physically crying for a Grade 3 space just because they are not Catholic worshipers.
My daughter was one of those who shed tears with others.
After enquiring for reason, the head teacher bluntly said: “We’re looking for Catholic students only.”
Well, if this is the case may I ask you a few questions?

  • Why don’t you make this clear initially that the school is looking for Catholic students only so that we don’t waste our time applying and waiting for another four days for no result?
  • Is the Catholic agency paying you and your teachers’ salary or our PNG Government?
  • As a church agency, are you to serve people or selected individuals?

Remember, not only Catholics contribute to the development of this nation, other Christians as well.
On the same note, not only Catholics are tax payers, others are good tax payers as well.
The good head teacher, you better rephrase your reason.

  • Not a good comment by the head teacher! Whoever came up with that idea, looking for Catholics only
    should be ashamed of them selves!

    Again, I must say. PAU also employees SDAs only ….so its everywhere categorizing of this.
