TUSBAB Secondary School and National Soccer League (NSL) club, Stallions, received a K100,000 sponsorship from the community benefit fund of the National Gaming and Control Board (NGCB). Tusbab teacher Nigim Korano said the sponsorship would go towards the club’s programme which include amateur side, Blue Kumuls, and the Stallions.
“This is a proud moment for us to be supported by a national corporate partner,” he said. “With our motto of ‘more than just a football club’, we are doing our best to address gender equality, women and girl’s empowerment, and HIV/AIDS. “This sponsorship is timely, as we have our flagship — the Stallions — to promote what we are doing at the local level.
“We hope to eventually create a pathway for our students.” Korano said he was proud to have NGCB support the team and the school’s human development programme under the personnel development department where physical education, including soccer, is taught. Stallions head coach Rachel Wadunah said the sponsorship would benefit the club’s programme in “driving our agenda through football”. “We want to see players and students become good citizens, enjoying both football and their studies,” she said. “This year, we have recruited four students from the school into the senior team while others will continue our development programme and the amateur club.”Meanwhile, with the registration deadline approaching, the club management has invited local business houses to help pay their registration and affiliation fees for the upcoming season.
