PRIME Minister James Marape has commended Huon Gulf, in Morobe, for using its limited financial resources on delivering quality education for children in the district.
Marape was in the district on Friday for the launch of the Zifasing School of Academy and the opening of two classrooms.
He was invited by local MP Ross Seymour to also witness the handover of vehicles, dinghies and machinery to be used for infrastructure programmes in the district.
Marape told locals at Zifasing village that education was the key to a good future for their children.
“I am here today to support your local MP (Seymour) who is doing a good work in ensuring money is spent on the right projects in your like these classrooms at Zifasing Primary School,” he said.
“It’s a lot of work he has undertaken to support your district in terms of education, health and road infrastructure among others.” Marape told the people that the 2020 Supplementary Budget passed by Parliament last week was aimed at putting the limited resources to good use when the economy had contracted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I encourage the children not to engage in things that will ruin their education.”
Marape also encouraged parents to look to earning an income through agriculture.
