IT was an emotional farewell to the outgoing Wau Primary School head teacher Mathew Humango at the 25th grade eight graduation last Friday.
His former students, friends and community leaders hugged him and shed tears and exchanged gifts.
They thanked him for teaching at the school for the last 25 years.
“We thank Humango for spending 25 years of his teaching career at the biggest primary school in Bulolo,” Watut woman leader Manita Otio said.
She said Humango was a committed and dedicated teacher, and the school was proud of his achievements in his teaching career.
“Humango will leave behind a lasting legacy at the school which we will always treasure for many years to come,” she said.
“On behalf of all his former students, church members, sporting friends, teachers and adopted parents, I wish him all the best in his future when he leaves to take up his new post at Amba Demonstration School in Lae next year.”
Humango thanked everyone he had made friends with or came in contact with during his 25 years of teaching at Wau Primary School.
“I will leave with fond memories of Wau for the rest of my life when taking up my new posting and teaching appointment in Lae,” he said.
Wau-Bulolo urban local level government town mayor Willie Sine thanked Humango for his service to the teaching service in Wau and thanked him on behalf of Morobe government and Bulolo.
