THE Lufa Station Elementary School in Lufa district, Eastern Highlands, yesterday launched new school uniforms and infrastructure under the School Learning Improvement Plan (SLIP).
The uniforms are the latest achievement for the school after giving a major facelift to its buildings in a bid to replace kunai-grass thatched roof buildings and pitpit-blind walls.
School board of management chairman Rima Wego said the school had grown since its establishment in 1998.“Under the SLIP, school management and administration are done transparently in consultation with all stakeholders, including school children and their parents,” he said.
“When we want to withdraw school funds from the bank, the expenditure must correspond with the annual SLIP budget of the school approved and endorsed by the district education adviser.”
Wego said from a very small school, Lufa Station Elementary School had grown to having 11 staff (four female and seven male), nine board of management members and 338 children enrolled in elementary preparatory, elementary one and elementary two.
He thanked the teachers and the teacher-in-charge, Nancy Oveto, and the parents.
“Our aim is to make the school become a role model for other Lufa schools and those in other districts of Eastern Highlands province.“Finally, the latest harvest is the school uniforms for the children,” Wego said.
