KITIP Lutheran Secondary School, located in Dei district, Western Highlands, has two new school campuses to cater for the increasing number of Grade 9 intake.
The two campuses are located at the proposed new high schools of Kenembo and Nunga respectively, about 10-minutes from Kitip, as well as the same distance from each other.
According to school principal, Robert Kauna, the Grade 9 teachers are based at Kitip Lutheran Secondary and are transported to and from the two campuses every morning and afternoon.
He said the management of these two campuses came directly under Kitip Lutheran Secondary School’s administration.
“Even though, it is a new concept, the board of governors decided to create the two new campuses outside of Kitip and making education accessible to students given the fact that these students come from feeder schools nearby and they are day students,” Kauna said.
Kauna said Kitip had increased the number of Grade 11 intake this year due to many eligible Grade 10 students last year coming from high schools in the province.
Governing council chairman James Maip added that they want to support local Dei MP Wesley Nukundi and Western Highlands Governor, Paias Wingti realise their dream of making Kenembo and Nunga become high schools and elevating Kitip Lutheran Secondary to a school of excellence in the near future with the aim of accommodating the growing population of school children in the district and province.
School administrators, board members, parents, community leaders and stakeholders of both Kenimbo and Nunga Primary schools where the two Kitip campuses are located were excited about the initiative taken by the administration and board of Kitip Secondary School and assured them their undivided support.
